Iberdrola Renewables powers up its first commercial-scale battery system

Iberdrola, the world leader in renewable energy, has powered up its first commercial-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in the east of Ireland.

The 50MW Gorman BESS in County Meath will provide system services to EirGrid for six years – contributing to the security and sustainability of the electricity network in Ireland – following success in the DS3 Capped System Services Contract auction in 2019.

Pupils from Saint Sophia’s Primary School in Galston, East Ayrshire celebrated the end of the school year in style, as they raised the Green Flag Award at ScottishPower Renewables’ Whitelee Windfarm – the largest onshore windfarm in the UK and the first in the world to receive the prestigious accolade
